BLUE BELT Drills

ALL BASICS FOR STABILITY PRINCIPLES

  • Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of their mental attention on the deeper programming of the Stability Principles.

  • Purpose: To gain an even deeper understanding, and programming of the Stability Principles through the use of Spiritual.

  • Reminders: Keep your attention on being bottom heavy. Visualize your connection to the ground. Locate your soul in the center of the body and run it from there. Project downward, using your Spiritual Abilities.

 

ALL BASICS FOR GROUND POWER

  • Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of their mental attention on the deeper programming of Ground Power.

  • Purpose: To gain an even deeper understanding, and programming of Ground Power.

  • Reminders: Keep your Stability Principles happening. Pull the energy of your base up and out through your striking limb and out towards the opponent. Move the energy by flowing your attention where you want it to go.

 

ALL BASICS FOR THE STRIKING PRINCIPLES

Description: In a run of All Basics the student focuses all of their mental attention on achieving in full the specific elements of the Striking Principles.

Purpose: To better understand and program the basic enhancement to the student’s form, from each element of the Striking Principles thus ensuring proper striking ability with further practice.

  • Rooting
    Reminders: Root in your stance at the same time that you make contact with your strike.

  • Retraction
    Reminders: Pull the weapon back before the rest of your body rotates.

  • Momentum
    Reminders: Feel your body move in the momentum step. Add a momentum step in occasionally.

  • Penetration
    Reminders: Drive the weapon in deep. Let your energy continue to penetrate well past the physical strike.

  • Explosions
    Reminders: Make your kiai loud. Let your energy peak outside of your opponent’s expectations. Peak with your energy and with your muscles.

  • Compensation
    Reminders: Lean your center into the direction of the force feedback.

CREATE THE DESIRED FORCE

  • Reminders: Create a cause level and flow that energy into your body. Imbue your body with the energy from the cause level.

 

TRANSFER THE FORCE

  • Reminders: With each attack transfer that intention toward your opponent.

 

ALL BASICS FOR BREATHING

  • Description: In a run of All Basics the students do two runs for breathing, one run for practicing full breath, and one run for geared breath.

  • Purpose: To practice and program the proper breathing techniques of Kenpo Karate.

  • Reminders: On the full breath, breathe all the way in, and all the way out. On the geared breath, breathe according to the amount of energy you are physically kicking out.

 

ALL BASICS FOR PHYSICAL FIGHTING POTENTIAL

  • Description: In a run of all basics, the student brings to bear their full fighting potential physically.

  • Purpose: To program the student with an ability to move at full physical potential in any fighting situation.

  • Reminders: Hit your potentials. Make sure you feel that your physical would be overwhelming in a real fight. Don’t stop discovering new, and greater potentials.

ALL BASICS FOR SPACE

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a space larger than their opponents.

  • Purpose: To practice and program imbuing the body and then the space around you. The creation of space is practicing the essence of extroversion.

  • Reminders: Locate in the center. Fill your physical body with your attention first. Then, from the center, project your attention out and around you. Create above you especially. Don’t project.

 

ALL BASICS FOR PROJECTION

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates and projects a high speed force wave onto their opponent.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritual projection to push the opponent into their head and thereby force their opponent’s introversion.

  • Reminders: Project from your center onto your opponent. Attack the opponent with your Projection. Push him up into his head. Force him to introvert. Send the flow repeatedly throughout your run.

 

ALL BASICS FOR CONNECTION

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a connection to their opponent.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritually connecting to the opponent using one's attention to hold to the opponent’s soul.

  • Reminders: Create your space. Use your projection to connect to his soul. Do not let your opponent disconnect from you. Hold his attention.

 

ALL BASICS FOR ENVELOPMENT

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a suppressive envelopment over their opponent.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritual envelopment to smother and suppress the opponent’s soul.

  • Reminders: Encompass the opponent with your flow of attention. Bear down on him from all sides spiritually. Suppress the opponents soul by smothering him spiritually.

ALL BASICS FOR SENDING A DISRUPTIVE EMOTION

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a disruptive emotion and sends it with their projection onto their opponent.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritually making your opponent feel an emotion that confuses and disrupts his ability to respond.

  • Reminders: Create the emotion strongly. Project that emotion to the opponent. Make him feel that emotion.

 

ALL BASICS FOR SENDING A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE YOUR BLOW WILL DO

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a picture of the impending damage and then sends it with their projection wave to their opponent.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritually making the opponent introvert by sending a vivid picture of the impending damage.

  • Reminders: Create a vivid picture of the impending damage. Include the sounds, reactions, and pains your opponent will experience. Project the picture to your opponent. Make him see the picture.

 

ALL BASICS FOR CREATE YOUR SENIORITY

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a seniority greater than the opponents.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritually placing yourself in a position of authority over your opponent.

  • Reminders: Find a real reason to consider yourself senior to your opponent. Use that position to put him to effect faster.

 

ALL BASICS FOR CAUSE LEVEL

  • Description: In a run of All Basics, the student spiritually creates a cause level greater than the opponent’s cause. The default cause level for Blue Belt is willing to hurt.

  • Purpose: To practice spiritually creating a cause level and dominating your opponent with it.

  • Reminders: Create a cause level greater than your opponent’s. Be willing to accept any and all consequences involved with that cause level.

ATTACK BACK TECHNIQUE LINE

  • Description: In a run of Attack Back Technique Line, the student practices their physical technique and spiritual creation.

  • Purpose: To practice and program spiritual creation in the technique line format.

  • Reminders: Create and Project your spiritual attack weapons. Use your application steps to move around.

 

SPARRING LEVEL FOUR DRILLING

  • Description: Students face each other down in their fighting stances. On the command of begin, they start sparring utilizing levels 1-4. Level 4 is totally uncooperative.

  • Purpose: To program the ability to spar with your Kenpo while utilizing the techniques of Sparring Levels 1 - 4.

  • Reminders: Concentrate all of your attention on the creation of your spiritual attack weapons towards your opponent. Level 4 is uncooperative sparring. Use your Sparring Techniques in an uncooperative manner.

 

SPIRITUAL CONTROL DRILL

  • Description:

1st Stage: In Kicking Drill, the student practices varying their force, while holding their control constant. Control (Spiritual Attention on the body) remains constant, while Force (Physical Speed and Power) goes down and then up. At the top end of Force the student maximizes with skipping kicks.
2nd Stage: The student practices varying their Control, while holding their Force constant. Force (Physical Speed and Power) remains constant, while Control (Spiritual Attention on the body) goes down and then up. At the top end of Control the student maximizes by Postulating an even greater degree of control.
3rd Stage: The student practices varying the Force and Control uniformly. Force and Control both go down first and then up. At the top end the student only goes as fast as they can maintain their Control over their Force.

  • Purpose: To separate spiritual control from physical force. Each is independent of one another, but usually they work in unison. To enable the student to operate at immense spiritual ability without the use of their physical body, and vice versa.

  • Reminders: Bring the varying factor down first, and then up. When at the upper end of your force, maximize by skipping. When at the upper end of your control, maximize by spiritual postulation.

INSTANT MOBILIZATION DRILL

  • Description: Student faces coach. Coach calls out numbers 1-3 at random intervals. Student responds with the appropriate Spiritual, and Physical creation instantly.

  • Purpose: To teach the student to instantly create to the appropriate magnitude physically and spiritually.

  • Reminders: Instantly create the appropriate magnitude physically, and spiritually. On a one, create the cause level of Fight. On a two, create the cause level of Maim. On a three, create the cause level of Kill. Don’t anticipate the number. Move as instantly as you can. Mobilize your spiritual attack weapons instantly.

INSTANT MOBILIZATION BY CONTACT DRILL

  • Description: Students face out in a circle. Coaches move throughout the students applying hostile or non-hostile contact. When hostile contact is given, students respond with a single instantly mobilized attack. When non-hostile contact is given, the student’s do not respond.

  • Purpose: To teach the student to instantly mobilize when hostile contact is given. To teach the student how to differentiate between hostile and non-hostile force, and respond accordingly in an instant fashion.

  • Reminders: Don’t anticipate, allow yourself to be surprised. When non-hostile force is given, stay calm and don’t mobilize. When hostile force is given, respond with an attack instantly. Coaches should flow their intention a few seconds prior to contact with the student. Students should respond to hostile force as soon as they perceive the attack. Make sure you respond as instantly as you can.

 

CONSTANT MOBILIZATION DRILL

  • Description:

1st Stage: Student focuses all of their attention on a coach who is doing footwork in combination. As the student creates and flows on the coach and does full potential strikes at him, the other coaches attempt to distract and throw the student off of their creation and target. The main coach doing the footwork begins and ends the drill.
2nd Stage: In a run of attack back technique line the instructor pushes the students with higher levels of force to push their ability to maintain their constant creation.
3rd Stage: In Continuity Drill format the Instructor calls up one coach after the next to attack the student. The student keeps their creation, and flow regardless of frequency and randomity of the attackers.

  • Purpose: To teach the student how to constantly create oneself despite any and all distraction.

  • Reminders: Flow on your coach. Don’t let any of your attention slip onto the others trying to distract you. A small distraction is still a loss of your focus and attention. Keep your creation constant and overwhelming on your coach.

 

SPIRITUAL DISTANCING DRILL

  • Description:

1st Stage: The coach does footwork in combination while the student spiritually locks to a distance chest to chest with the coach. The student then shuffles to the front and rear of the opponent maintaining the proper distance. 
2nd Stage: The coach and student face each other in fighting stances. The coach backflows when about to move to the rear, and projects when about to move to the front. The student responds by moving with the coach in the appropriate direction. The coach should push or pull by flowing forward or back. 
3rd Stage: The coach varies footwork, speed, and flows in an attempt to throw off the student. The student uses their spiritual to lock to the coach and maintains their distance as best they can.

  • Purpose: To train the student to spiritually perceive and control the physical distance between themselves and their opponent.

  • Reminders: Use your flow to lock a distance between you and your coach. Perceive when your coach will move by watching whether he flows or back flows.

 

CONSTANT CAUSE LEVEL DRILL

  • Description: Both students face each other and on the command of begin the students spar using hands only. Students physically work on defending and attacking effectively, while working on keeping their cause level constant.

  • Purpose: To practice keeping your chosen level of cause regardless of whatever randomity you may have to face.

  • Reminders: Block as effectively as possible. Be precise in your attacks. Don’t flail. Keep your Horse Stance. Don’t let your cause dip. Hold onto your cause and projection onto the opponent.

SPIRITUAL STRIKING AND KICKING DRILL

  • Description: The student practices full potential kicks and strikes to the freestanding or hand-held bags.

  • Purpose: To practice keeping your spiritual creation up regardless of physical potential. To keep your cause level up while you strike.

  • Reminders: Keep your creation up at all times. Don’t let your creation waver if your physical potentials need work. Don’t let your physical determine your spiritual.

 

PERCEPTION DRILL

  • Description: Coaches stand in a three point semi-circle surrounding the student, instructor stands behind the student. The Instructor points at the coaches randomly, and the coaches project their high speed force waves at the student whose eyes are closed. The student pinpoints timing and direction of the coach’s projection using their spiritual perceptions.

  • Purpose: To develop the student’s ability to perceive flows of attention through the use of their Spiritual Perceptions.

  • Reminders: Keep the circle clean. Coaches project through the student. Create your space, and move as soon as anything crosses into your space. Don’t mentally try to figure it out. Trust your perceptions. Trust where you feel it’s coming from.

 

SPIRITUAL OPTIONS DRILLING

  • Description: In a segmented run of Technique Line, the student chooses the most damaging and effective blows possible and then executes the attack with the appropriate Cause Level.

  • Purpose: To practice choosing the most damaging attacks possible, and then executing the attack with the proper Cause Level.

  • Reminders: Block effectively and then take time to choose the most effective attack. Throw the attack with the correct cause level. Try to stay with your strong side.

FIVE STAGE DRILLING

  • Description: In a Technique Line the student practices the Kenpo fighting strategy.

1st Stage: Student stuns the opponent with 1-2 fast strikes with the cause level of willing to fight.
2nd Stage: Student strikes the opponent with 1-2 fast strikes, but with more potential and power, with the cause level of willing to hurt.
3rd Stage: Student works the opponent with 2-3 potential strikes slowing down the interval to increase the power between each strike, also with the cause level of willing to hurt.

4th Stage: Student maims the opponent with 2-3 strikes focusing on full potential striking, with the cause level of willing to maim.
5th Stage: Student kills the opponent with 1 final strike, with the cause level of willing to maim.

  • Purpose: To program and practice the fighting strategy of the AKMA, and to have the ability on call on this strategy at a moment's notice in a fight for your life.

  • Reminders: Start off for speed more for power. As you finish the stages, increase the interval between each strike and go for more damage. Move to the next stage when you complete the previous one. Create realistic cause levels.

CONTACT DRILLING

  • Description: While the student is down in a Horse Stance, the coaches strike with padded contact. The coach works on their spiritual potentials, while the student works on their confront of force and their repel. This drill is done with full contact gear.

  • Purpose: To begin exposing the student to the forces involved with contact, and the use of spiritual in the repelling of the damage, and striking full potential.

  • Reminders: Before contact do your Reality Factor. When repelling, flow down the line of communication and blow out the energy trying to push its way in. When striking, create your cause level and willingness to attack your opponent. Keep your creation up at all points of this drill.
